Playing Dress Up With Spirit Work
It’s normal at the beginning of our journey to play “dress up” – put on the clothing, get all the accessories and emulate our teachers. I refer to this as “colour by numbers” or “cut and paste” spirit work.
Yet every seasoned spirit worker I know remembers the moment when they realised that they were truly in it and the days of playing “dress up” were gone.
For me, it was a visceral spirit interaction and the realisation that for years I had been approaching this work from my intellect. The penny dropped and the work became embodied. Part of growing up was to throw away the spiritual toys and feathers I had been using as a crutch. Once you have truly felt the power of Spirit you never have to look, act or be a certain way again. The tools are nice but they are not essential. You don’t have to “look the part”, if the work is truly embodied.
Once you have crossed a threshold it’s easy to see who is playing "dress up" and who isn’t. No judgment, we have all been there.
Before the moment of truth, you do start to get some warning signs that something is not quite right. Yet, I clinged to my 15 years of training as I was heavily invested in what I had become – a spiritual “puppet”. The best thing that happened to me was throwing all those trainings out the window and starting again. Now I love the process as it never ends. The more we cling to a way of being the more stagnant we become.
I know that this deepening process will never end and that I am a student for life. It’s ok if someone just wants to play dress up in this life. If there is any part of you that knows you need to go deeper or that the time of playing “dress up” is coming to an end, I look forward to seeing you in the space.
You will discover the greatest gift of all, the innate magick in your DNA without fanfare, cultural appropriation or the need to wear masks. Your lineage gifts will only truly come online when you are your authentic self, then what you choose to dress up in doesn’t matter, as its coming from a pure place of authenticity and Divine connection.
Much love x
